Ocean Saratoga Drilling Rig not leaking

Diamond Offshore Drilling has issued a press release refuting the claims of a spill made earlier today. A number of news outlets had reported that the Ocean Saratoga drilling rig has been leaking since April 30th. The rig is working to plug derelict wells damaged by Hurricane Ivan back in 2004.
HOUSTON, Jun 08, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. (NYSE:DO) today confirmed that there have been no leaks of hydrocarbons from the semisubmersible drilling rig Ocean Saratoga. The rig is under contract to Taylor Energy Company LLC and engaged in the process of plugging and abandoning wells damaged when a Taylor Energy production platform was toppled during Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

The Ocean Saratoga well site is located about ten miles off the coast of southern Louisiana. The leak is emitting approximately 14 gallons of oil per day. The rig covers 26 wells that are owned by Taylor Energy.
